Neuropsychological testing involves the evaluation of a broad range of skills including, but not limited to intelligence, memory, language, visual-spatial skills, processing speed, fine motor functioning, attention, executive skills (i.e., planning, organizing, initiation), and academic functioning.  The results of the evaluation can help in planning and developing a treatment program, which can include both educational and behavioral interventions.

Neuropsychological Evaluation

Cognitive remediation is a form of rehabilitation therapy used to treat children and adolescents with a history of neurodevelopmental difficulties.  Cognitive remediation aims to improve executive skills such as planning, organizing, initiating, inhibiting, and self-monitoring that can have a significant impact on performance across home, school, and community settings.  Each program is individualized based on the needs of the child or adolescent.

Evaluations

After your child has been diagnosed with a concussion from a medical provider, a concussion evaluation can provide information about how your child’s brain is functioning.  A concussion evaluation can be particularly helpful if your child is experiencing prolonged concussion symptoms or if the concussion is impacting your child’s ability to perform in school.  These evaluations are typically brief and verbal feedback is usually provided on the same day as the evaluation.
